The
Governor's Advisory Committee on Women Veterans
and the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Healthcare
System of Ohio has teamed up to host the Ohio
Women Veterans' Conference on Saturday, April
4, 2009, starting at 10:00 a.m. Registration will
begin at 8:00 a.m. A nominal fee of $5.00 is to
off set the lunch cost.
The
keynote speaker is Vernice Armour recently separated
from the Marine Corps as a Captain, in June of
2007. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, she was
recognized as America's First African-American
Female Combat Pilot by the Department of Defense,
and completed 2 combat tours of duty in the Gulf.
Vernice was featured on Oprah Winfrey, CNN, NPR,
and others; she has emerged as a leadership coach
and speaker for the 21st Century.
The
conference will provide information and resources
to the attendees. The event will allow us to recognize
and honor women veterans for their service to
our country. It is also a great time to associate
with other women from all branches and all eras.
The
2007 conference was a huge success with over 600
attendees. Those interested in attending should
register for the event on line by completing and
submitting the form below to reserve a seat. Please
make your $5.00 check payable to Marine Corps
League Detachment 830 at 141 West Main Street,
Suite 300, Circleville, OH 43113. Indicate on
your check it is for the Women Veterans Conference.
Once payment is received you will be mailed a
verification of your payment. If you have a driver
or friend that will be accompanying you they must
register and also pay the nominal fee. For questions

conference will be held at the Aladdin Shrine
Center located at 3850 Stelzer Road, Columbus,
